Venture South Pearl Street
The original failing 800-square-foot structure on site was at the end of its service life, no longer able to hold the Ventue’s growing staff. After determining to stay at the same location, a new 3,200-square-foot office was built in its place to reflect our culture and yet also relate to the historic South Pearl neighborhood around it. Outside, materiality, rhythm, and proportion were studied to create a modern building that responded to surrounding context. The two-level office building provides a diverse but integrated variety of amenities and spaces for staff and clients to comfortably and productively interact and focus with a large conference room, materials library, break room, and outdoor patio, as well as open office spaces, huddle rooms, a wellness room, and a mezzanine. Flanked entirely by large windows on nearly every side of the building, the site’s trees and distant mountain views are drawn into the interior, creating a “Tree House” feel on the second floor. Care was taken to incorporate flexibility so the building could be reused for many generations to come. It’s all tied together with a feature stair and two story windows connecting the building interior with the intersection of two busy streets; uniting interior motion and culture with the local neighborhood’s buzz and energy outside.
